Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure & Ops Engineer to contribute to IT operations, workplace technology, infrastructure, and IT support practices. This role is essential in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our IT systems, with a focus on client satisfaction and IT operations performance and stability. The ideal candidate should be hands-on and bring expertise in virtualization, clustering, automation, and cloud technologies. They will also work closely with our DevOps engineers, helping bridge the gap between infrastructure and development teams to support automation and deployment workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high client satisfaction by improving IT infrastructure, platform and workplace IT services, guaranteeing seamless and efficient end-user experience.
  • Participate in reporting on IT ops performance, tracking key metrics, and ensuring system reliability, uptime, and overall stability. Participate in first and second-level support operations, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and requests.
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure smooth integration between infrastructure and development pipelines, e.g. automation and CI/CD best practices.
  • Maintenance of hardware, operating systems (OS), platforms, and core systems, (SAN, NAS), networking, and firewalls.
  • Initiate, design & drive improvement projects related to infrastructure platforms, workplace technology improvements and platform modernization.
  • Hands-on configuration and management of virtualization platforms (XEN, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM), high-availability solutions. 
  • Oversee monitoring, logging, and alerting to maintain system health and proactively resolve issues before they impact users. (Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, etc.).
  • Contribute to improvement and maintenance of Microsoft Intune, Active Directory (AD), Google Suite (Google Workspace) ensuring security and compliance.
  • Set high standards for the team with strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving, and proactive engagement.
  • Ensure that all infrastructure and support processes are aligned with a customer-first mindset, continuously improving service quality.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure critical system uptime and rapid incident response.
  • Willingness to take leadership where necessary, particularly in driving technical initiatives and supporting team development and improvement. Ensure IT operations align with ITIL best practices, contributing to improvements in incident, change, and problem management.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements where necessary.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (XEN, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM). Expertise in high-availability solutions, and failover configurations.
  • Strong background in IT operations (ITIL), workplace IT support, infrastructure, and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proven experience in IT support, with a customer-centric mindset and a strong focus on service excellence.
  • Advanced skills in Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools, preferably Nomad (or Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Expertise in Active Directory (AD) administration, IAM, Microsoft Intune for endpoint security and device management.
  • Expertise in automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, etc.) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, etc.).
  • Knowledge of networking, security, storage solutions, and system administration best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • ITIL certification or hands-on experience implementing ITIL processes is highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations, especially during on-call incident management.
  • A passion for delivering high technical standards and a customer-focused IT experience.
