Reporting line: Director, Fuel Accounting Europe
Role purpose
Fuel Accounting in Circle K supports the end-to-end accounting and settlement of fuel purchases across European operations. We are looking for an experienced leader to manage the Controlling function over Fuel Purchases and Accounts Payable, strengthen financial control, and accelerate standardization, automation, and continuous improvement.

You are an experienced and confident people leader with a strong finance, accounting, or procure-to-pay background. You combine operational discipline with a long-term improvement mindset, take ownership of outcomes, and create an environment where people feel included, motivated, and accountable. You communicate clearly, challenge constructively, and turn complex issues into sustainable solutions with measurable business value.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach and develop Trade Controllers and AP professionals, including Team Lead, and build an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing team. Team size: 15-20 members.
- Set clear objectives, monitor delivery, support succession and capability development, and reinforce accountability and continuous learning.
- Oversee accounting for fuel commodities and related services, including contract execution, pricing controls, supplier settlements, and invoice processing.
- Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of data in ERP and integrity with connected source systems.
- Monitor trade variances for price and volume, provide timely analysis, and drive resolution with relevant stakeholders.
- Strengthen procure-to-pay controls, compliance, audit readiness, and operational risk management.
- Support accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Develop meaningful KPIs, management reporting and BI dashboards to improve transparency and performance.
- Drive process re-engineering, standardization, simplification, and automation, including practical use of AI capabilities and Power Platform solutions.
- Own the Fuel Purchases and AP improvement roadmap, including change management, system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain effective supplier relationships and ensure discrepancies and escalations are resolved promptly.
- Serve as a member of the Fuel Accounting Europe Leadership Team and actively contribute to departmental strategy, priorities, governance and decision-making.

You will work closely with:
- Fuel Sourcing & Trading, Risk Management, Supply Operations
- External suppliers and business partners
- Fuel Accounting Europe and local Business Units
- Global Process Owners (GPOs)
- IT and System Architects
- Shared Service Centers and local finance teams
Requirements
- Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in finance, transformation, or operational roles.
- Experience within fuel, energy, supply chain, or other regulated environments.
- Exposure to audit, controls, and compliance-heavy processes is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, a process-oriented mindset, and solid root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage complexity across multiple countries, systems, and stakeholder groups.
- Experience with JDE and/or SAP is considered an advantage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English.
