About us:

With a team of over 100 people, we operate from two locations — Kyiv and Riga — each hosting an R&D center and a production site, along with key functions such as sales, marketing, HR, and finance.

We are looking for Legal Partner who will manage of all legal issues of DK NEJET in Latvia, building and managing a legal service/legal departments in all existing subsidiaries of the Group in Latvia (three companies).

Requirements:

Master’s degree in law from Latvian or European university
Experience in mil-tech, obtaining export permits for military or dual use products or technologies in Europe, deep understanding of IP and issues related to transfer of technology in mil-tech
Fluent written English, ability to draft documents in English: foreign trade agreements, corporate documents, IP license agreement etc.
Minimum 5 (five) years of experience in law, at least 2 (two) of them (i) either in top tier Latvian law firm on the position of Partner or (ii) Head of legal of manufacturing company
Strong background in EU law, IP Law, corporate law, foreign trade law, GDPR, regulatory, permits and licenses is defense manufacturing sphere

Nice to have

Experience in mil-tech, obtaining export permits for military or dual use products or technologies in Europe, deep understanding of IP and issues related to transfer of technology in mil-tech

Responsibilities

DK NEJET Group’s existing legal department in Latvia, as well as the legal departments and legal personnel of subsidiaries and joint ventures established in the future, including the organisation, coordination, management and supervision of their work. Responsibilities include establishing legal departments, defining their organisational structures, reporting lines and employees’ job responsibilities, as well as making decisions regarding changes to legal personnel, including recruitment and termination of employment (subject to prior approval by DK NEJET’s Chief Legal Officer).
Management of all legal matters related to DK NEJET Group’s operations in Latvia, as well as the establishment and development of the legal department, ensuring effective legal support and legal risk management for the Group’s companies in Latvia.
Identification and assessment of legal risks affecting DK NEJET Group in Latvia, development and implementation of measures to prevent or mitigate such risks, and introduction of appropriate legal solutions and preventive measures.
Establishment, implementation and management of processes for monitoring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal requirements, as well as risk management processes across DK NEJET Group companies in Latvia, including oversight of compliance with export control requirements, regulations governing dual-use goods and technologies, international sanctions, and special permit and licensing requirements.
Provision of comprehensive legal support to DK NEJET Group management and affiliated companies, subsidiaries and joint ventures in Latvia. Legal support includes providing legal advice and preparing legal opinions, memoranda and analyses concerning corporate structures, regulatory frameworks, legal and compliance risks; drafting and reviewing material legal documents and contracts; and representing DK NEJET Group companies before the courts of the Republic of Latvia, arbitration tribunals, and state and municipal authorities within the scope of legal competence, including providing legal advice and preparing legal documentation concerning intellectual property rights, trademark registration, protection and use.
Oversight of the legal compliance of DK NEJET Group companies’ operations in Latvia, ensuring the timely identification, assessment and mitigation of potential legal risks affecting the companies, their management and their shareholders.
