Our people are the heart of Norwegian. We embrace a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion, where different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives make us stronger. Together, we work towards our vision of becoming the most loved and trusted airline in Europe.
Are you our new Senior Procurement Category Manager Fuel?
Are you a commercially driven procurement professional with a passion for aviation, strategic sourcing and sustainable solutions?
At Norwegian, fuel is more than one of our largest operational expenses. It is a critical part of our daily operations, our competitiveness and our journey towards more sustainable aviation.
We are now looking for an experienced and strategically minded Senior Procurement Category Manager Fuel to join our Strategic Procurement team.
In this role, you will take responsibility for developing and managing our fuel procurement activities, covering both conventional jet fuel and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). You will play a key role in securing competitive agreements, strengthening supplier partnerships and ensuring reliable fuel supply across our network.
Reporting to the VP Strategic Procurement, you will work closely with colleagues across Operations, Finance and Sustainability, helping us deliver commercial value, operational resilience and our long-term strategic ambitions.
The position can be based at Fornebu (Norway), Barcelona (Spain) or Riga (Latvia).
In this role, you will:
- Drive strategic fuel sourcing: develop and execute sourcing strategies for conventional jet fuel and SAF, identifying cost-saving opportunities and leveraging synergies across the Group.
- Lead commercial negotiations: Manage complex, high-value supplier negotiations, contracting and supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, favourable terms and long-term value.
- Be our SAF knowledge expert: Provide expertise on sustainable aviation fuel markets, regulatory requirements, technical developments, infrastructure and supply chains to support Norwegian's sustainability ambitions.
- Ensure operational resilience: Work closely with operational teams and suppliers to secure fuel availability, establish contingency arrangements and support the network during supply disruptions or shortages.
- Monitor markets and performance: Follow global and regional fuel markets, pricing mechanisms and industry benchmarks, while supporting budget preparation, forecasts, financial control and contract performance.
- Strengthen collaboration and compliance: Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners, ensuring procurement best practices, regulatory compliance and continuous process improvements.
- Lead and develop: Manage cross-functional projects, contribute to the overall procurement strategy, mentor Operational Procurement Specialists and represent Norwegian at relevant industry events.
We believe you will thrive in this role if you:
- Have a minimum of five years of relevant procurement experience, preferably involving complex, high-value categories.
- Bring proven knowledge and experience of jet fuel and SAF markets, including regulatory requirements, pricing mechanisms and fuel supply chains.
- Have strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen and demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value commercial negotiations.
- Have a higher education qualification and strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
- Possess a strategic mindset, with the ability to balance long-term priorities with the demands of a fast-paced operational environment.
- Can build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at different levels and confidently influence senior decision-makers.
- Are well-organised, able to prioritise competing demands and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
- Enjoy collaborating across teams while also taking ownership and working independently.
- Communicate confidently in written and spoken English and are willing to travel when required.
We can offer:
- A role with real impact: Help shape Norwegian's fuel procurement strategy, strengthen our competitiveness and contribute to a more sustainable aviation industry.
- Strategic influence and professional development: Work with complex commercial agreements, international fuel markets and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), collaborating with experienced professionals across the organisation.
- Travel in Europe and beyond with massively discounted employee-priced tickets with Norwegian and our partner airlines.
- Challenging, variable and dynamic environment where you can develop your skills.
- ID Tickets – eligibility to ID travel tickets for yourself and your travel partner after three months of employment.
- Health insurance – the company will provide health insurance within one month from starting date.
- Company mobile phone and paid monthly subscription.
- Meal allowance in amount of 58 EUR monthly after probation period.
- Coffee, tea, fruits and table tennis in the office on top of various other engagements activities.
